Andy Murray has a new coach!

With the new 2012 season beginning soon it's only natural the Andy Murray began to think about getting a full time coach, ha has enjoyed a successful 2011, possibly his best year yet, however it maybe he needs an extra push in order to gain his maiden Grand slam.

And so he turned to Ivan Lendl, the 51 tennis great with eight Grand slams to his name, with a packed schedule and the addition of the Olympics it seems Lendl's guidance might be what Murray needs to polish up his game and beat some of the current champs.

Murray's statement:

I hope this means that Murray's game improves and we get to see some better quality matche's and the balance of power among the top 4 begins to shift, exciting stuff!

Former world number 1

Djokovic Vs Ferrer Mubadala - Final (6-2, 6-1)

Djokovic crushed Ferrer in the same manner he did Federer, he conclude the match with consecutive aces, beginning the 2012 season the way he means to go on.

Djokovic spoke about the great experience he had gained from the tournament and how much fun he had. When asked if he could continue his form from 2011 he claimed that he thought he could, too cheers of the crowd, and that nothing was impossible if you believed.

Ferrer exclaimed that he knew why Djokovic was number one in the world and that it had been a difficult match for him.

On another note aren't those trophy's great, what a funky design!

Nadal Vs Federer Mubadala - Battle for 3rd Place (6-1, 7-5)

Going into the match it had to be said that Federer was favourite to win it, Nadal was looking tiered and a shoulder injury was said to be causeing problems. Federer on the other hand may have lost to Djokovic but he appeared fresher and more prepared than Nadal did.

So it was a surprise when Nadal took the first set with relative ease, 6-1

The second set was closer, Nadal broke early but Federer broke back straight away after a double fault from Nadal (Perhaps due to his shoulder injury). A close battle followed, some great tennis was played and we got a few smiles from Nadal, even getting a point after hitting the ball between his legs - usually a Federer move!
The 11th game was a thriller, Nadal was after a win so he could serve for the match but Federer stood in his way and stopped him time and time again, but after 6 attempts Nadal eventually broke!
Nadal prevailed in the end, taking 3rd place, a good win for Nadal and both players must now be feeling confident about the up-coming season after a decent performance at an exhibition match.

Afterwards Federer seemed calm and appeared to be looking forward to the coming season, he also spoke about the development of sport in Abu Dhabi and the surrounding region, he is truly a great ambassoder for the sport.

Nadal said the tournament was great preperation for the Australian Open, and spoke of his shoulder problem but mentioned he was playing his best in practise.

I feel Nadal is playing down his chances for the Australian Open, planning a suprise attack on his opponent.

We can all look forward to the final this afternoon!

Mubadala World Tennis Championship

This exciting exhibition tournament is coming to a close, but we still have two exciting matches to look forward to:

Rafael Nadal Vs Roger Federer - 3rd Place play-off
Novak Djokovic Vs David Ferrer - Final

I am looking forward to the Nadal/Federer match, we haven't had seen much of the 'Fedal' rivalry recently and I think Nadal will just be glad he isn't going up against Djokovic again!

Djokovic is looking back in form after his break and it should be a good match against David Ferrer who will be feeling good after beating fellow country-man Nadal!

Which match will you be looking forward to most?

Looking Forward To 2012

Kicking off the season we have the Mubadala World Tennis Championship, and from then onwards we have a packed 2012!
Not only do we have the four Grand slams we also have the London Olympics to look forward too!
Another notable difference to the 2012 schedule is that the season will be two weeks shorter, providing the player's with a much needed break they didn't get after the 2011 season.

What are you looking forward to in 2012?  :)
